About
Identidades

Identidades is a flamenco project based in London, developed through the shared musical journey of two artists connected by a strong collaborative bond and a common interest in flamenco.

While the art form is not native to their cultural origins, the project engages with flamenco while maintaining a clear sense of individual and cultural identity, incorporating influences from a range of musical traditions.

As the project evolved, it expanded into a core ensemble shaped both by shared affinities and a deliberate search for specific musical elements. New members were brought in not only through natural artistic connection, but also to develop the group’s sound and direction.

Alongside this core formation, Identidades regularly collaborates with guest artists, including invited artists from Spain, and works across London’s flamenco scene.

A dialogue between cultures,
an expansion of essence.

Artistic Statement

Flamenco, for us, is not only a musical tradition but a form of expression rooted in freedom. It carries a history of voices shaped by displacement, resistance, and the need to be heard. This understanding resonates deeply with our own backgrounds and informs the way we approach the music.

Rather than attempting to imitate a fixed form, we relate to flamenco as a living language—one that grows through contact, absorbs influences, and transforms through experience. In this sense, we see it as an art form that expands without losing its essence.

Identidades exists within this space. Each member brings their own cultural perspective and artistic voice, not in opposition to flamenco, but in dialogue with it. The project is both a performance group and a platform for development, where collaboration, exploration, and artistic growth remain central.
